چکیده

Abstract Funding Acknowledgements Type of funding sources: None. Background Adenosine (ADN) infusion may terminate focal atrial tachycardia (AT). However, the effect ADN on reentrant (RAT) is unclear and based case reports small series. These latter included mostly patients with cavotricuspid isthmus-dependent flutter provided conflicting results, RAT termination found when it involved septal or tricuspid/mitral valve regions. Purpose The aim this study was to test response (termination, transient suppression no effect) RATs evaluate differences according AT location. Methods prospectively studied at time catheter ablation in consecutive AT. Only were included. This mechanism established by activation entrainment mapping confirmed ablation. A 10 mg adenosine 5'-triphosphate (ATP) bolus administered all effects cycle length termination. Additional ATP 20 30 if AV block for least 2 secs obtained former ones. Results 58 (67, ±13 years old; 11 female) 79 38 right sided (34 isthmus-depend flutters, 1 lateral atrium reentry, upper loop superior vena cava reentry around coronary sinus) 41 left (21 perimitral 16 peripulmonary vein 4 a free wall reentry). No terminated had >20 ms prolongation following administration. There transformation into other mechanisms fibrillation any case. complications. Conclusion are insensitive infusion, neither nor prolongation.

The effects of radiofrequency ablation on left atrial systolic function in patients with atrioventricular nodal reentrant and atrioventricular reentrant tachycardias.

BACKGROUND Recurrent supraventricular arrhythmias may cause remodelling of the atria. The effects of radiofrequency (RF) ablation of these arrhythmias on left atrial function have not been well established. AIM To evaluate the effects of RF ablation on left atrial systolic function in patients with atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia (AVNRT) and atrioventricular tachycardia (AVRT). ...

Editorial Focal Atrial Tachycardias and Atrial Flutter: Are they Hot Enough to Make a Thematic Issue?

Focal atrial tachycardias and atrial flutter represent a considerable part of the arrhythmias treated by electrophysiologists worldwide. Antiarrhythmic drug therapy might control these arrhythmias. Unfortunately, in many cases this therapy is fraught with side effects or ar-rhythmias recur. With the advent of invasive electrophysiology, an increasing number of these substrates are becoming amen...

Iatrogenic Left Atrial Tachycardias

epending on initial ablative approach, the incidence of left trial tachycardia (LAT) or flutter after atrial fibrillation AF) ablation has varied about 10-fold. Using segmental, stial pulmonary vein (PV) and/or antral isolation, about 3% f patients require repeat ablation for LAT (1,2). Conersely, using widely encircling PV lines plus mitral and roof ines, LAT incidence is often 20% to 30% (3,4...

Atrial Tachycardias Following Atrial Fibrillation Ablation

One of the most important proarrhythmic complications after left atrial (LA) ablation is regular atrial tachycardia (AT) or flutter. Those tachycardias that occur after atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation can cause even more severe symptoms than those from the original arrhythmia prior to the index ablation procedure since they are often incessant and associated with rapid ventricular response. D...

Organized Atrial Tachycardias after Atrial Fibrillation Ablation

The efficacy of catheter-based ablation techniques to treat atrial fibrillation is limited not only by recurrences of this arrhythmia but also, and not less importantly, by new-onset organized atrial tachycardias. The incidence of such tachycardias depends on the type and duration of the baseline atrial fibrillation and specially on the ablation technique which was used during the index procedu...
